Building a sustainable tomorrow BAM Nuttall has an opportunity for an experienced Project Health & Safety lead to join the Health & Safety Team and support the delivery of the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU), a major rail project in the North of England. The Transpennine Route Upgrade is a major investment to be made in the railway between York and Manchester via Leeds and Huddersfield. TRU is a multi-billion-pound, transformative, long-term railway infrastructure program that will improve connectivity in the North. It will support economic growth in the North and deliver real benefits for passengers and communities along this pivotal rail artery. As an alliance partner, BAM Nuttall has been appointed to develop and deliver the majority of the civil engineering and building packages between Manchester and Leeds. This provides an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to provide energy and focus to help shape and establish a positive culture. Leading a team of health and safety specialists, you will support the delivery teams and wider Alliance in order to identify, eliminate, reduce, and control risks. Your mission As the Project Health & Safety lead this role will require you to work collaboratively with both internal and external parties at all levels. In order to: Establish a proactive assurance monitoring plan to ensure that controls are suitable, being complied with and meet relevant standards. Identify trends and develop solutions with key influencers from across the Alliance. Develop and maintain a health and safety training plan that meets the needs of the delivery teams. Deliver training and briefings as required. Support design reviews and promote the hierarchy of control. Ensure there are suitable resources in order to provide health & safety advice. Lead the incident investigation process to ensure that initial learning is communicated, route courses are clearly and logically identified, lessons learned are captured and communicated with the relevant community and there is an embedment strategy for lessons learned. Establish and facilitate engagement forum with key influencers throughout the Alliance. Manage, coach, and develop the health and safety team. Maintain clear records to comply with company internal audit standards. Advise on procurement strategies and vendor evaluations. Develop a health & safety communication strategy. Prepare reports and submit in agreed format. Who are we looking for? Minimum 5 years experience within a rail construction environment. Minimum 5 years of experience as a team leader with a track record of developing health safety professionals. Minimum 5years of experience in identifying improvement opportunities and working with key influencers to develop and embed them.
